Knowledge & Wisdom
A Prayer to the almighty lord, to provide us that Knowledge & Wisdom which will transcend us to the higher dimension of reality.
ॐ असतो मा सद्गमय । तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय । मृत्योर्मा अमृतं गमय । ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः ॥ ~ Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 1.3.28.
Om Asato Maa Sad-Gamaya | Tamaso Maa Jyotir-Gamaya | Mrtyor-Maa Amrtam Gamaya | Om Shaantih Shaantih Shaantih ||
Meaning : Om (Lord), Lead us from Unreality (material world) to the Reality (of the Eternal Self), Lead us from the Darkness (of Ignorance) to the Light (of Spiritual Knowledge), Lead us from the Fear of Death to the Knowledge of Immortality. Om Peace, Peace, Peace.
Buddhism teaches us that a wise person has a healthy body, descent speech and calm mind.
Gautama Buddha says
> A wise man always careful and using his intellect, discriminates between good and bad. ~ Dhammapada v. 256
> He lives his life ethically and morally. ~ Dhammapada v. 258
> He has a calm mind and free of fear and hatred. ~ Dhammapada v. 268-9
According to Anglican, Catholic, and Lutheran belief, Wisdom is one of the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit. Corinthians 12:8–10 gives an alternate list of nine virtues, among which wisdom is one
The Quran states : He gives wisdom to whom He wills, and whoever has been given wisdom has certainly been given much good. And none will remember except those of understanding.
In Taoism, wisdom is construed as adherence to the Three Treasures (Taoism): charity, simplicity, and humility.
Knowing others is intelligence;
knowing yourself is true wisdom.
Mastering others is strength;
mastering yourself is true power.
